Missed opportunity...

I am in Welland, Ontario, Canada, for a few days. The picture at the left is of one of the locks in the Welland Canal which joins Lake Erie with Lake Ontario in North America. Yesterday morning, at about 5 am, I drove along the Welland Canal toward Lake Erie. The sun was coming up, and there was a fog about one foot off the ground all around. The land is very flat. Along the side of the road were about 20 large Canadian geese. All you could see were their heads about the line of fog. Great image, but no camera. Went out again this morning, with camera. Geese and sun, but no fog. At times, things just don't line up. It takes three points to make a plane.

Paul Bunyan men--and woman!

Forgot to follow up. Victor and I were scheduled to split wood last weekend. Lucky for us that Jason joined us. The three of us + that Paul Bunyanette, Alice, did about 3 cords of wood until the pressure valve on the log splitter gave out. Tough work. I think Victor ended up with a chipped bone in his finger. I have bruises and scars all over me. Jason and Alice came through pretty much unscathed.

Glad I don't have to do that every day!

O Canada!
Our home and native land!

In Welland, Ontario, tonight, which is near Niagara Falls, New York, my birthplace.

11:30 pm, and we have been traveling all day. First, to Lewiston to visit Alice's mother. Now, over an international border and across twisty roads to Welland, which is about 20 miles from Niagara Falls on the Niagara Peninsula.

Tired. Very tired.

All right, where did you people come from?

The Passmore expresses shock & surprise

While I was sitting here, the blog went over 11,000 visits. I don't know where you people are, but I didn't see you come in the door. I would have offered you a seat and some coffee (preferred here, of course), tea, or, heaven forbid, water. Let me know, please, when you knock on the door, OK? We will offer hospitality.

Friday!

Much to be said for Fridays. Marks the end of a week. Causes you to reflect on what you accomplished, and what you failed to do. Then, a change of pace.

This weekend promises to be tough. On Saturday, starting at noon, Victor and I will split about four cords of wood with a log splitter I am renting. Then, on Saturday night, hurricane rain is supposed to hit Pennsylvania. I hope we are done before the skies open.

Rest the aching bones on Sunday. Then, on Monday, we are off to Niagara Falls, New York, to visit relatives. We will live in Niagara Falls, Canada, due to the US/Canadian exchange rate favoring us. However, we must cross the border frequently, a long and difficult task in this age of terrorism.
